Lecture: May 11 -13 (9:30am-1:30pm) (Regis students will meet
separately for one day between May 4 and 8, 2009 from 10 am to 6pm,

Canoe Trip: May 22-24
Locations: The lecture will be held at the UNC campus in Candelaria. The
field trip will begin and end near Grand Junction, Colorado.

Tentative tuition Fee: $ 265 plus 3 credit tuition at UNC ($495) (see the timeline for details)
Enrollment is done on a first come,
first serve basis for remaining space. Tuition is the same for
in-state and out-of-state students!

Dropping
the class: You can drop the class up until May 1. It is your
responsibility to contact the Office of Extended Studies at

This
course is open to students and teachers. Our
study site can be seen in topographic map form and in Color Infrared Photo
form. Canoe the lower Gunnison River and explore dramatic
canyons. Paddle and explore
ancient red sandstone landforms including Dominguez and Escalante
Canyons near Grand Junction Colorado. Learn about the power of water,
wind, and weathering in a western environment. We will practice
geographic field skills and develop a research plan. No paddling
experience is needed. You are responsible for your
transportation to the Grand Junction area and back. The outfitter (Centennial Canoe) will supply all
canoes, group equipment, meals, and canoe instruction prior to the
trip.
